Welcome to Teaser Tuesday!
Each Tuesday, I will post a new teaser from one of my current WIPs. This week’s teaser is another excerpt from Something Beautiful.

For the next couple of minutes the pair sat in silence in the back of the cab, as Reed continued to feel the sensual caress of his husband’s fingers. By the time they arrived at the restaurant it was almost ten in the morning, as most of the breakfast crowd had dispersed. After the waitress took their orders, Reed watched as Levon popped a couple of quarters into the jukebox.
“Dance with me,” Levon spoke, as Reed saw his partner standing over him reaching for his hand.
“Here? In Waffle House? I don’t know, this isn’t Fayetteville, we’re further south remember? We don’t need to draw attention to us.”
“So far we’ve been lucky. I only had to sign two autographs in the lobby of the hotel this morning while you were in the shower. Not everyone is a fan of metal. Now dance with me, babe.”
“That’s not what I meant. Well partly, but we’re gay as well.”
“There’s not that many people in here.”
“Alright,” Reed finally spoke, taking the hand that was offered.
“This song was playing softly in the background that first night in the Escalade.
“I didn’t know you liked country music,” Reed whispered, as he laid his head on his partner’s shoulder.”
“I don’t normally, but the song describes my feelings for you, that’s all.”
As their bodies gently swayed, Reed looked up into Levon’s eyes.
“I want to kiss you,” Levon whispered, as Reed saw the desire darkening his blue stare.
“Now that might get us kicked out,” Reed replied, feeling his face flush. “Besides, it looks like our food is ready.”
Sitting on the same side of the booth the pair was quiet for most of their breakfast, as they shared each other’s food. Smiling, Reed realized that Levon was getting his kiss. His husband was kissing away a drop of syrup from the corner of his mouth.
“Tastes so good,” Levon murmured.
“The syrup or me?” Reed asked, playfully.
“Both. Pancakes aren’t the only thing made better by a little sweetness.”
Lost in the moment, both men were completely oblivious to the tall, dark-haired stranger that had been casually watching them since they had danced in each other’s arms. Seated directly opposite at the bar, drinking a cup of coffee, they hadn’t noticed the smile that lit his deep green eyes as he absorbed their romantic gestures. Avery Gaines retrieved his newspaper from the counter, stopping to pay his ticket and that of the gay lovers he had just witnessed. The only clue that he left for his actions were a business card, with instructions to give it to the romantic pair.

Something Beautiful is a continuation of my short story, Playboy28. Transman, Reed Collins and his partner Levon Kruger, an openly gay drummer for the heavy metal band Hardcore, have now been in a committed relationship for eight months. The pair is living at his home in Fayetteville, Arkansas as they continue to explore the love and passion that began in an online chat program a year ago.
Not only have Reed and Levon continued their love and passion, the pair have defined their commitment as a marriage. While on their honeymoon in Hot Springs, Avery Gaines walks into their lives in what he calls, “a chance meeting.” The couple is immediately attracted to the tall, dark-haired stranger, with deep green eyes. While Reed is the first to admit his love for Avery, Levon holds his emotions in check. Avery wants the trio to share not only a commitment, but a bed as well, and does not readily understand Levon’s reservations. The romantic triangle will go through a period of conflict and turmoil, until Levon finally reveals a secret promise that he made to Reed, and how loving Avery would call into question the very foundation of the marriage he shares with his partner.
